Micael Ferreira Galvão - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion

Birth Date: October 8th, 2003
Country of Origin: Manaus, Brazil
Jiu Jitsu Lineage: Melqui Galvão JJ, Fight Sports
Weight: 182 lbs.

Mica Galvao is the youngest BJJ black belt in the world, reaching it at 17 years of age.

He was also a 2020 Abu Dhabi World Pro champion in the 77kg brown belt division. In the same year, he won second place at the EUG tournament and defeated three opponents in a row at the Third Coast Grappling Middleweight Grand Prix. Mica also defeated Andrew Tackett and Oliver Taza on two separate occasions at Who’s Number One.

A major reason behind Mica’s success is his father and coach, Melqui Galvão, who was also a black belt in his time.

Mica was on the mat at the age of 2. Within 2 years, he took part in a professional Jiu Jitsu tournament. At age 10, he began practicing Luta Livre, a Brazilian martial art created by Euclydes Hatem in Rio de Janeiro; Primarily a mixture of catch wrestling and judo. Today, he is a black belt in both Jiu Jitsu and Luta Livre.

A notable mentor of Mica was Totonho Aleixo. Under his guidance, Mica ranked at the top of all Jiu Jitsu circuits from junior on. He gained fame internationally when he beat the world-renowned black belt champion ‘Leandro Rounaud’ at just 15 years of age as a blue belt.

Interestingly enough, Mica is not just great at multiple martial arts, he has worked tirelessly towards animal welfare and remains a vegetarian. In a recent interview, he also revealed his diet plan which benefits his athletic performance rather than hindering it, and Fighters Choice Supplements are part of that regimen.
